The Yang Research Group seeks to understand and master the principles that rule the polymer
complex matter for developing advanced low-dimensional materilas. Our particular focus is on design
and development of fibers, films and membranes with polymer compelx materials, especially
polyelectrolyte complex and hydrogen-bonded polymer complex. Due to the dynamic interactions of
polymer chains in such complex system, they can adapt their physicochemical properties in response
to external stimuli, such as pH, ion concentration, and humidity. Potential applications include surface
modification, preparation of self-healing materials, water purification materials, and super elastic
materials. To intelligently design such system, we apply precise polymer synthesis techniques to
prepare giant molecules with well-defined structures; we investigate self-assembly behaviors of the
charged polymer systems; we study the adaptive and anisotropic relaxation properties of
low-dimension material systems. We aim to contribute to the polymer physics community through
understanding and solving the polymer physic problems in such systems.
